About

Estab. 2005

For Photographers: 440 is a Cooperative gallery. We maintain our membership at approximately 14 artists and occasionally seek a new member when an individual moves or leaves the collective. There is a co-op membership fee plus a donation of time. All prospective members must submit a portfolio and be interviewed. In addition, to members’ solo exhibitions, we host 2 national juried exhibitions each year, in the summer and winter, with an outside curator making selections. Located in Park Slope (Brooklyn), the gallery is approximately 400 sq. ft. with two exhibition areas (the solo gallery in the front and members’ gallery in the back). Open Tuesday-Friday, 4-7, weekends 11-7, closed in August. Patrons are primarily from the New York City regions, especially Brooklyn. Due to our proximity to popular Brooklyn destinations, we are visited often by tourists interested in culture and art. Overall price range $100-12,000 with prices set by the artist. Average length of an exhibition is 5 weeks.
