When you’re surfing the web and making decisions on how to promote yourself, try to stay true to your aesthetic. If you’re a watercolor artist, don’t hide it. If you use acrylics, maybe have something representing that.
Templates are simple and friendly, but if possible, find somebody knowledgeable in web design and ask for a bit of help. After all, this may be the first impression of your work.
